Insulated Concrete Forms Condominium

Villa Rose, a 64,000sqft, solid concrete, 20 unit condominium complex with a commercial level and a parking garage proves that building with ICFs doesn't mean you have to sacrifice on design. Controlled by strict aesthetic regulations and on a property with varying grades and clearance restrictions, see how Quad-Lock & Quad-Deck made this project a true Rose in the community of Qualicum Beach, BC.

Thinking Outside the "Box"

Just this week, at a local homebuilder's association event, I heard another sustainable building expert tell a room full of builders that "ICFs are best for simple designs without many corners".  As you might expect, I had to stand up and correct this statement as this is not true of all ICFs, though this misconception does persist among design professionals.  Quad-Lock clearly busts that myth.

Besides the Villa Rose project mentioned above with hundreds of corners, check out this example in Abbotsford, BC, that Bobby Wallace (Preferred Quad-Lock Installer and Appointed Trainer) calls his "32 Corner Monster":

ICF Basement with LOTS of corners

Where are the "corner blocks" you ask?  The answer, of course, is "Nowhere" because Bobby makes full use of our metal corner brackets on every job, eliminating the need for special order blocks or exterior bracing.  Not having exterior bracing on a basement may not be such a big deal, but when you get into multiple stories - not having to work on the outside of the building can literally be a "life-saver".  Internally braced corners allow Bobby and all Quad-Lock installers to work from the inside of the building from floor to floor as the building progresses.

If 90 degrees is too "square" for you, then how about ANY angle you want with our adjustable universal corner bracket?  By making miter cuts on the corner panels and fitting on the adjustable brackets, odd shapes and angles become fast and profitable.  This Quad-Lock feature has made a real difference on some in-fill building projects and on odd shaped lots.

Now, if I can only get Bobby to be able to tell the right-hand corner brackets from the left-hand ones! Just kidding...

ICFA Marketing Committee

The ICFA Marketing Committee has been re-established as a permanent resource for the ICFA membership. "The Committee will advise and assist with the planned advertising and marketing initiative that the ICFA will be launching in 2011. The committee will also assist in creating broad-based programs and marketing tools that support the ICFA strategic plan relative to educational outreach and public relations."

As a founding member, Quad-Lock is pleased to be a part of these initiatives with the inclusion of Douglas Bennion as a part of the marketing committee. Quad-Lock is also represented on the ICFA board by Georg Kustermann. We would like to invite all our regular customers to join the ICFA to support this important industry association.
